Authorities are currently on the search for a two-year-old boy who was dragged into the water by an alligator near a Disney resort in Florida.
Orange County Sheriffs Office spokeswoman Rose Silva has said that the boywas dragged into the Seven Seas Lagoon near the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa in Orlando.
Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings says that the two-year-old was on holiday with his family from Nebraska as police continue the search.
Speaking on the horrific incident, he said:
“The father entered the water and tried to grab the child but he was not successful in doing so. Im told that at some point, the mother also entered the water“
He says that more than 50 police officers are currently on the search and they will continue to do so.
Also, to aid with the search, wildlife and marine officials have been called in. “We are putting every effort forward,” said Chad Weber, an officer of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
It’s a terrible state of affairs. Our thoughts are with the family and we hope that somehowthe boy can be returned to them safely.
